A day in Marrakech's Medina with Talal Benjelloun, Hotel Marketing Director of the Tunisia and Morocco hotels
A day in Marrakech's Medina with Talal Benjelloun, Hotel Marketing Director of the Tunisia and Morocco hotels

Located just a 15-minute drive away from Iberostar Club Palmeraie Marrakech, the Medina, or fortified city, is the historical center of Marrakech. Our Hotel Marketing Director for Tunisia and Morocco, Talal Benjelloun, knows all the secrets of the enigmatic city of Marrakech and takes us on a day tour through the streets of the Medina.

9:00 am: A vibrant start at the Souks

I decided to kick off this exhilarating day by heading to the Souks of Marrakech, where vibrant colors and exotic aromas overwhelm my senses. As I venture into the Spice Souk, mountains of spices and herbs create a rainbow of colors. I wander through the various stalls, amazed at the merchants' skill in crafting unique blends.

11:00 am: Cultural exploration in Marrakech

After experiencing the lively atmosphere of the Souks, it's time to delve into the culture and history that Marrakech encapsulates. The Bahia Palace, with its tree-lined courtyards and dancing fountains, wraps me in its charm, while the El Badi Palace transports me to a bygone era with its majestic ruins. Both landmarks serve as perfect stops for a morning filled with cultural enrichment.

01:00 pm: Culinary Delights in the Medina

As lunchtime approaches, the temptation to indulge in the delicacies of the Medina becomes irresistible. I find myself at a street food stall in a cozy corner, drawn by the scent of freshly cooked tagines. With every bite, I taste the authenticity of local cuisine, a true testament to the rich culinary traditions of Marrakech.

02:00 pm: Relaxation in the Menara Gardens

After an eventful morning, I need a breather, so I take a peaceful stroll through the Menara gardens. Here I find the serenity I crave, relaxing in the shade of century-old olive trees while watching the reflection of the sky in the pond.

"The Menara Gardens are a place where time seems to stand still."

04:00 pm: A revitalized return to the vibrant Medina

I return to the hustle and bustle of the Medina, rejuvenated and ready to immerse myself in more cultural wonders. My next stop is the Marrakech museum, where I spend two hours unlocking the city's secrets through its fascinating exhibits.

06:30 pm: Sunset transformation in the Medina

At sunset, the Medina undergoes a magical transformation. Its alleyways are bathed in soft light and the air vibrates to the sound of street music, bringing the vibrant spirit of the city to life. I come across an improvised dance performance, a testament to the lively, spontaneous nature of Marrakech's streets.

08:00 pm: A quiet evening in a traditional hamman

The night ends with a visit to a traditional hammam, where I immerse myself in the warm waters and let the stress of the day melt away. This experience is not only synonymous with relaxation, but also with connecting with the Marrakshi, centuries-old tradition of well-being and self-care. It's the perfect end to a day filled with discovery and wonder, offering a unique insight into the local way of life.

Iberostar Club Palmeraie Marrakech: An oasis of luxury

Just 15 minutes from the Medina is the Iberostar Club Palmeraie Marrakech. Nestled in Marrakech's Palmeraie, this resort - as its name suggests-  is surrounded by more than 100,000 palm trees, planted during the Almoravid dynasty amidst beautiful and spacious gardens.

The hotel offers a free shuttle service that allows guests to explore the exotic city effortlessly. Upon their return, they are greeted by a hotel that embodies the essence of Morocco, with three heated pools, one of which is exclusively for adults, and a splash pad for children. It is a paradise where the little ones can enjoy a host of activities offered by the Star Camp program, while the adults relax in the spa, with Turkish bath, massages and treatments.
