Palma is a city full of corners wating to be discovered. Invite your customers to stroll around its streets and admire the various palaces in the city center along with their spectacular courtyards. Later, they can make their way to La Seu to marvel at the impressive architectural details of this Gothic Cathedral and the breathtaking panoramic views from its rooftop.
For Contemporary Art lovers, Palma is lucky enough to host several must-see museums such as the Es Baluard museum, a beautiful centre that showcases some amazing Modern Art pieces, or the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation, where your clients will be able to visit the studio in which the renowned surrealist painter Joan Miró worked. Plus, the studio has remained untouched since he passed away: unfinished canvases, used paintbrushes and open paint cans are still scattered around the studio to this day. Like the rest of Spain, Easter is a key celebration in Mallorca, meaning it is the perfect getaway for those who are looking for a cultural and slightly different trip. During Easter, known in the Spanish Catholic calendar as “Semana Santa” (Holy Week), several religious displays take place around the island.
On Maundy Thursday, Palma hosts the “Procesión del Cristo de la Sangre”, one of the most important parades on the island, which dates back to the 15th century. This procession is accompanied by 33 different brotherhoods that will start their march from the Cathedral (La Seu) — for the first time ever— and will walk along the city centre’s streets during Thursday night.
On Good Friday, two of the many events that take place during this week are particularly noteworthy. In Pollensa, the "Davallament", declared of touristic interest in 1968, is an event that stands out for its solemnity. It is a representation that takes place at dusk, in which Christ descends from the cross located on the Puig del Calvari mount (illuminated with torches) and descends the 365 steps in the arms of the brothers and sisters until reaching the parish church of Mare de Déu dels Angels. On the other hand, the procession of the Holy Burial and the Solitude of Mary is held in Sineu. This procession is made up of more than fifteen stages, some of which date back to the 14th century. Several music bands make this procession one of the most colourful in Mallorca.
