At the end of June, Iberostar Playa Paraíso, in the heart of the Riviera Maya, hosted the North America Golf Tourism Convention (NAC), one of the most important events in international golf tourism. Over several days, the resort welcomed industry professionals for a program that combined business meetings, networking, and curated experiences designed to showcase the destination.

A resort where golf and hospitality come together

Beyond the working sessions, attendees experienced a program designed to immerse them in the Iberostar offering. A beachfront welcome reception, activities across the resort, and a tournament at Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club, designed by P.B. Dye highlighted a course that blends naturally into the Riviera Maya’s tropical landscape.

Each moment offered a clear example of how golf, nature, and hospitality can coexist within a single destination.

Elevating Riviera Maya as a premier global golf destination

This year’s edition marked a milestone for the industry. For the first time in its history, the North America Golf Tourism Convention, organized by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), took place outside the United States. Choosing the Riviera Maya as host destination highlights the growing relevance of the Mexican Caribbean in golf tourism and reinforces Iberostar Playa Paraíso’s position as a leading venue for high-level international events.

During the convention, the resort welcomed 254 professionals from 32 countries, who took part in an agenda focused on building new commercial partnerships, sharing knowledge, and discovering the region’s tourism offering through carefully designed experiences that showcased what makes this corner of the Mexican Caribbean unique.

Iberostar Playa Paraíso continues to position itself as a world-class golf destination

The North America Golf Tourism Convention also provided an opportunity to present the Iberostar Golf portfolio, which includes resorts and golf courses across Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, and Spain. More than 40 meetings with specialized tour operators were held during the event, opening new doors to bring these destinations to travelers worldwide.

Hosting the first edition of the North America Golf Tourism Convention outside the United States represents a significant milestone for Iberostar and reinforces the Riviera Maya’s role as one of the leading destinations in international golf tourism.

Because when a destination combines outstanding landscapes, top-tier facilities, and a people-focused approach to hospitality, the result goes far beyond an event: it becomes an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
