Much of the JOIA experience at El Mirador is found in the details of the stay. Personalised attention is especially present at Star Prestige La Balconada, a private area reserved for guests staying in selected room categories.
La Balconada has its own sun terrace and pool overlooking Playa del Duque, together with relaxation areas and an Open Bar serving drinks and light bites at selected times. Personalised concierge and butler services accompany the experience from arrival and throughout the stay.
It is an expression of the wider JOIA philosophy: fewer distractions, attentive service and spaces where guests can settle into their own rhythm.
The hotel has 126 suites, ranging from Junior Suites to sea-view and Star Prestige categories, alongside Superior, Presidential and Royal Suites.
The Atlantic is a recurring presence. Sea views, terraces and outdoor spaces allow the light and colours of Tenerife to become part of the room itself, while selected Star Prestige categories add access to the private areas of La Balconada.
The architecture contributes to that sense of place. Rather than separating the hotel from its surroundings, its arches, tiled roofs and open spaces draw inspiration from the Canary Islands and frame glimpses of the ocean, gardens and mountains beyond.
The setting is an important part of a stay here. Playa del Duque lies directly beside the hotel, with golden sand and Blue Flag certification. Its seafront promenade continues along the coast, connecting the area with more than eight nearby beaches.

The island's food provides its own sense of place, with dishes and ingredients such as papas arrugadas with mojo and gofio forming part of Canarian cooking.
That contrast makes Costa Adeje an interesting base: mornings can begin beside the Atlantic and another day can lead inland, towards Tenerife's volcanic terrain and towns.
Gastronomy is one of the defining elements of JOIA by Iberostar, and at El Mirador the connection with Tenerife comes through most clearly at El Cenador.
Its menu looks to the Canary Islands, with dishes such as creamy seaweed rice, octopus grilled over grapevine shoots, Pelibuey lamb and Abona beef with wild mushrooms. Local wines accompany the menu, bringing another part of the islands to the table.
At La Pérgola, the mood shifts towards Mediterranean cooking by the pool, with tapas, local fish and rice dishes served at lunch and dinner. El Mirador offers an international buffet, Las Pardelas serves lighter food beside the pool, and La Tosca is the setting for drinks and live music later in the day.

The hotel's heated freshwater pool curves around the main building, between palm trees and architecture inspired by the islands. There is also an outdoor Jacuzzi, while Spa Sensations includes a hydrodynamic pool and spaces dedicated to wellbeing.
For Star Prestige La Balconada guests, another pool sits above Playa del Duque, opening towards the Atlantic. The hotel also has fitness facilities for guests who want to keep active during their stay.
Golf adds another possibility to days in Costa Adeje. JOIA El Mirador guests have access to special conditions at the nearby Costa Adeje Golf Course, allowing a round of golf to sit naturally alongside time at the beach or an afternoon back at the hotel.
Perhaps the easiest way to understand JOIA El Mirador by Iberostar is through its relationship with its setting.
