In a world increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability, at Iberostar, we want to take a step further in the search for creative solutions to reduce waste. Thanks to the collaboration with the "Gloop" company, from now on, edible spoons, straws, and coffee stirrers will be supplied at all our resorts in Spain.
These edible utensils are fashioned using leftover resources from the food industry, predominantly derived from rice flour. They come in all kinds of flavours, such as chocolate and biscuit for the spoons, as well as strawberry, lemon, mint, chocolate, and vanilla for the straws. Moreover, they are vegan and gluten-free, therefore avoiding any inconveniences related to food allergies or intolerances. After enjoying a delicious ice cream, guests will no longer have to worry about waste, as the spoon is completely edible.
The implementation of these utensils is closely linked to our commitment to achieve net-zero emissions and to completely eliminate single-use plastics in all our establishments by the year 2030.
Thanks to this project, Iberostar positions itself once again as a benchmark in sustainable innovation and also invites other industry players to reconsider their practices and search for greener and more sustainable alternatives.
